The other day I was listening to my life coach Phil Moss on one of his morning motivational calls.  It was so good, I had to pass it on to our readers.  Here it is (or at least here’s my interpretation of his message):

“Today I define it as Running my race; seeing the best in my life becoming my reality.  Becoming a little more like the person I was created to be.  We should consider ourselves a success each day as we begin to take measurable actions towards the carefully chosen goals that we want in our lives.

A long time ago, I made a choice that I wanted all that life has for me.

To have a successful life, to get more of what we want than what we don’t want, we have to get away from the fantasy called “fair”; we have to get over expecting life to be fair.  Fair is a self-indulgent, unproductive fantasy.  It’s not going to happen in this world, and it distracts us from our ultimate objective.  As high performers, we have to deal with our present situation as it is.  We have to focus on getting more of what we want rather than obstacles that stand in our way.

Everyone has handicaps; a big part of our lives is learning how to take disadvantages and turning them into advantages.  Channeling our spiritual, mental, physical, emotional energy into getting more of what we want is what we get to do with this thing we call “time”.  Here’s a fact – some people are naturally more intelligent than others.  Some are more creative than others.   Some people are born into poverty, others into wealth.  Some people receive great love, but little else, while others get everything but love.  Some people are considered better looking than others.  Some can run faster, jump higher, hit a baseball higher than others.  Some people get the best of education and contribute little to the world, while others have little education and leave a significant mark.  This is the phenomenon that we call life!

In life, everyone is dealt a hand.  You have to play your hand.  Life is learning how to play any hand well.  It’s up to you.  Life is filled with champions that drew extremely poor hands, and losers who had been dealt great hands.  In life, you’ll never be dealt a hand that with God’s help, can’t be turned into a winning hand.

Success is the person who is willing to take the initiative and pay the price with the hand that they’ve been given.  Wherever you go, there you are.  And you are where you are because that’s where you are.

Here’s a timeless principle; success is a planned outcome, it’s not an accident.  By understanding the immutable, unchangeable law of reciprocity (aka the law of sowing and reaping), success and mediocrity are both absolutely predictable, because they follow the same natural immutable law of sowing and reaping.  If you want to reap more rewards, you have to sow more contributions, service and value.  You are where you are because that’s what you’ve sown in the past.  What you chose to sow or not sow today is creating a new future.

Some of life’s blessings have prerequisites.  Success is not based upon need, it’s based upon “seed”.  You have to become good at planting in the spring or begging in the fall.  The bible says it this way: “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked.  What ever a man sows, so shall he reap.”  (Gal 6:7)

There are no exceptions to the law of sowing and reaping.  The order: first sow, then reap.  Like gravity, it’s working 24/7, and works whether you’ve heard about it or not, even if you think it is unfair.  You can’t harvest something that has not been sown.  Success is the effect generated by the right thinking, right attitudes and right actions.  Success and failure are not accidents, but consequences.  If you want to know what you’ve sown in the past, look around you and see what you’re reaping today!

If I want to change where I am I have to change my “seeds”; and it starts with knowing that the law of sowing and reaping is at work in my life.  I have to accept total responsibility for my life.  We are the causes of our choices, decisions and actions.  Everything we do or fail to do counts.  Every action has a consequence, even if it isn’t immediate.  You’re either becoming more like the person you’re supposed to become or you’re not.  There’s no neutrality, there are no “time-outs”.  The sooner you learn this, the better.

An extra-ordinary life is simply the accumulation of thousands of efforts, often unseen by others, that lead to the accomplishment of your best for your life.  You’re rich with choice, and your choices reveal who you really are.  More than any other single factor, you and I are where we are because of the choices we’ve made.  We’ve made decisions about what to learn, what not to learn, what to eat, what not to eat, where to spend time and where not to spend time.

Make today your turning point, whether its in your health, your faith, your career as an adjuster, your marriage; take different steps today to begin to get more of what you want instead of what you don’t want.

The beautiful thing about today is that it is a new day, and we can make new choices!”

I hope you enjoyed… Best wishes from AdjusterPro,

– Adam
