North Carolina adjusters are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) before renewing their license. The 24 hours must include:

  • 3 hours of ethics CE.
  • 3 hours of Flood Insurance for the first compliance cycle, and every four years after that

    This section is in serious need of a course split. 127 pages??? This course should be divided into (2) sections: (a) and (b) with separate Final Exams. There is too much information for a 3-credit course in one shot. Or, at least split the courses and offer 1.5 credits each.

    Question 19: I disagree with the test answer. The question is whether or not the loss was ‘covered’ not paid. If so, then the adjuster could have been wrong about the coverage, yet bind the insurer, even if she has draft authority. So the answer that she has authority to bind is not correct for the question. The question is whether or not the claim was “COVERED”…. In this particular situation, Julie’s confidence can only be guaranteed if the Insurer had granted approval. Only in this scenario can Julie’s confidence be guaranteed, and not simply because it was her decision.

    While having the question pattern subsequently switch from Inland to Ocean was a bit irritating, my BIG complaint is the Editing failure to catch the false acronym CRF in the Ocean Marine Terms and red and green icon images. It should have correctly been “CFR” as is clearly stated in the Example below and subsequent pages. For first time readers of this Ocean Marine technology, this error may create a mental back-and-forth flipping of the correct term. This error is duplicated in the downloadable study material.

Compliance

North Carolina adjusters are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years, including 3 hours in Ethics. In the first compliance period and every other compliance period after that (every four years), adjusters must also complete 3 hours in Flood Insurance. So the 24 hours must consist of:

  • 3 hours of Ethics every two years
  • 3 hours of Flood Insurance for the first compliance cycle, and every four years after that

North Carolina Adjusters will not receive credit for any CE course taken twice in any 24-month period, regardless of their license compliance cycle. Be sure to track and plan your CE courses accordingly. Any credits above the required number of CE hours will carry forward to the next biennial compliance period. Excess ethics or flood credits will carry over to the next compliance period as general credits.
