Alabama Insurance Adjuster Exams

The University of Alabama has partnered with AdjusterPro to offer their insurance adjuster exams online for all lines of authority offered in Alabama. Select your exam to view more details.

When you are ready to take your exam, please register for your exam through the University of Alabama. Exam fees are $75 for each attempt. If you register for an exam that you are ineligible to take, you will forfeit the fee and must submit another online registration and fee. If you do not pass your 2nd attempt, please review the Alabama Department of Insurance policy on Repeat Exam Limitations to ensure you understand when you are eligible for your next attempt.

  • Alabama Adjuster Exam: Proctoring Requirements

    Please review the important testing information below to ensure you meet all requirements.

    • You cannot take the online test with a phone, tablet, or Chromebook. Candidates must use a laptop or desktop computer that meets the specifications below.
    • The online proctoring system supports the following web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
    • Computers must have an operating system with Windows 7, 8, 10, or MacOS 10.11+ (El Capitan).
    • We suggest students use the embedded web camera in their laptop or any standard webcam purchased and manufactured within the last five years. 3D Webcams and computers with more than one integrated camera are not supported at this time. Web cameras with ONLY drivers for Windows Vista or below will not work.
    • Your internet speed must be Upload: 1 Mbps, Download: 2 Mbps. Tethering and Hot Spots are not supported.
    • After submitting your registration, you will receive an email within 2 BUSINESS DAYS from [email protected], explaining how to work through your exam process. Once you have gained access to the AdjusterPro system, our online proctoring exam partner, its design will look and feel like a University of Alabama online classroom. This service will give you flexibility to take your exam at your convenience.
    • When registering for your exam, you are not selecting a date and time. You are only registering and paying for the exam. The dates listed on the registration page are not deadlines or testing windows. Once you have access, these exams can be taken at any time.
    • Your exam will be recorded by a proctoring application through our proctoring partner AdjusterPro.
    • Please ensure the area and room you are testing in is clear of any person(s), documents, textbooks, or course materials that could be used to complete your exam. Calculators can be used along with a blank scratch sheet of paper and a pen or pencil. Cell phones cannot be used as a calculator. Calculator applications within your computer are allowed. You will be required to provide a non-expired ID to the proctoring application before testing can begin.
    • Note: While taking these exams, students will not be able to go back to previous questions to review or change their answers. Students need to make sure and set aside enough time to finish the exam in one sitting. A breakdown of students’ results by topic will be provided after they have completed and submitted the exam.

  • Alabama Exam Attempts: Timing Rules

    The State of Alabama regulates the cost and timing for all insurance exam retakes. All exam attempts must be purchased through the University of Alabama.

    • Each exam retake costs $75.
    • If a person fails the exam on the first try, they can take it again immediately.
    • If a person fails the second try, they must wait 90 days before they can take it again.
    • If a person fails the third try, they can take it again immediately.
    • If a person fails the fourth try, they must wait 180 days before they can take it again.
    • If additional attempts are needed, the 180 waiting period requirement applies to all subsequent attempts.
  • How do I get an Alabama Adjuster License?

    To obtain your Alabama adjuster license, complete the following steps:

    1. Meet the basic Alabama Adjuster License Requirements

    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a bona fide resident of Alabama

    2. While the state doesn’t require a pre-licensing course, we recommend completing AdjusterPro’s Alabama Adjuster Exam Prep course to ensure passing the state exam. Make sure to choose the line(s) of authority that fit your licensing needs.

    3. Register for the state exam on the AdjusterPro Alabama Exams page. Make sure to choose the same exam you took your exam prep course for.

    4. After passing the exam, process and submit Fingerprints through Fieldprint.

    5. Submit your application through NIPR

    6. Submit Proof of Citizenship Documentation

    7. Check to see if your license has been issued at SBS Alabama
