The Designated Home State (DHS) license was created to provide residents of non-licensing states a means to designate a home state for the purposes of reciprocity and compliance. You should only obtain a DHS License if you reside in one of the following non-licensing states: Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D. C., or Wisconsin.

A DHS license basically works just like having your home state license and is vital if you want to work any claims outside of your non-licensing state. While a host of different states offer a DHS license, the Florida 70-20 Nonresident DHS license is our top recommendation. By the end of this live training, you’ll be able to write a rock-solid, accurate estimate from start to finish, utilizing the “Sketch” tool.     The practice exams helped a lot. I had the most help on those areas, by doing the calculations and math for the PIP and the insurance amounts, and then at the bottom of the questions the explanation and reasons why each question was right or wrong helped out a lot. I guess they also explained some of the definitions in a way that highlighted each individual question better than the course did.
