Florida adjusters must take an approved 40-hour pre-licensing course and pass the state’s insurance adjuster exam to get their license. Once you complete our course and pass the included exam, you are qualified to apply for your Florida 6-20 license. No additional testing or coursework is required. After fulfilling the additional public adjuster requirements, you can then move on to getting your 3-20 license.

Steps to Become a Florida Public Adjuster
  1. Pass the 6-20 state exam, or pass an approved alternate course like ours. Our Certified Adjuster Designation satisfies all the Florida Dept. of Financial Services requirements for getting your 6-20 license, including the exam requirement.
  2. Apply for the 6-20 Resident Adjuster License, including getting your fingerprints submitted.
  3. It’s important to note that once you receive and appoint this license, you can work as an independent or staff adjuster. To get your public adjuster license, continue with the following steps.
  4. After you receive your 6-20 license, you must be appointed by a public adjuster or public adjusting firm and apprentice under them for 6 months, or be appointed as an independent or staff adjuster for 6 months.
  5. During this apprenticeship period, you must have a $50,000 surety bond.
  6. After completing your apprenticeship, you must take and pass the 3-20 Public Adjuster exam with PearsonVue.
  7. You will need a $50,000 surety bond to cover the license period.
  8. Apply for the 3-20 Florida Public Adjuster License.
