How do I get my Arizona license using the Certified Adjuster Designation and exam exemption?

To obtain your Arizona adjuster license using the Certified Adjuster Designation, complete the following steps:

1. Meet the basic Arizona Adjuster Licensing Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • P.O. Box or PMB (Private Mailbox) cannot be used for either residence or business address

2. Complete the Arizona Certified Adjuster Designation Course with state exam through AdjusterPro. It includes:

  • 40-hour required course
  • 100-question proctored exam
  • Membership in the Association of Certified Adjusters

Once you complete our Certified Adjuster Course and pass the included exam, you become a member of the Association of Certified Adjusters. The Certified Adjuster (CA) Designation and association membership qualify you for an exemption to the state exam in Arizona. Once complete, you can apply for your license without additional coursework or testing required.

3. Process and submit fingerprints according to AZ fingerprinting instructions.

4. Apply for your license via paper application. At this time, only paper applications are accepted when using the exam exemption through the Certified Adjuster Designation. To apply, submit the following:

  • NAIC AZ Paper Application.
  • Association Membership Letter (found in your AdjusterPro classroom upon completion)
    • New Arizona applicants must fill out an NAIC AZ Paper Application and include their Association of Certified Adjusters Membership Letter. You will also receive a certificate of designation that does not need to be submitted to the state.

In the “Jurisdiction and Type of License” section, you will check the box marked “Adjuster” under Arizona. You do not need to specify a line of authority for an adjuster license.

5. Send your application, membership letter, and check to:

  • Arizona Department of Insurance & Financial Institutions, 100 N. 15th Ave., Suite 261, Phoenix, AZ  85007-2630

6. Check to see if your license has been issued at SBS.
