To obtain your California adjuster license, complete the following steps:
1. Meet the basic California Adjuster Licensing Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have two years of certified experience in the insurance adjusting field, equal to 4,000 compensated hours
2. While California does not require a pre-licensing course, we highly recommend completing AdjusterPro’s California Exam Prep Course to ensure passing the state exam
3. Register for and pass the California State Exam
- Register for the ‘Independent Insurance Adjuster Examination’ online with PSI
4. Submit your adjuster application using Sircon or Form LIC 041-A
5. Obtain and submit a $2,000 Bond of Insurance adjuster using form CDI Form 31A-14
6. Process and submit Fingerprints according to instructions on the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Fingerprinting Requirements page
- License applicants are not to submit fingerprint impressions until their license application is received at the California Department of Insurance
7. If you intend to conduct business from any location in California other than the principal place of business, a Branch Office Certificate must be obtained by submitting an Application for a Branch Office Certificate, form LIC 31A-13, and fee.
8. Submit a 2×2 passport photo
9. Check to see if your license has been issued at CDI License Search
