FLORIDA ADJUSTER LICENSING & COMPLIANCE FAQS

  • Which Florida adjuster license do I need?

Great question! Our own Jesse Gibson explains it all on our blog in his Florida License Types article.

  • How do I get a Florida Adjuster License?

To obtain your Florida adjuster license, complete the following steps:

    1. Meet the basic Florida Adjuster Licensing Requirements

    • Be a natural person at least 18 years of age
    • Be a resident of the State of Florida
    • Be a United States citizen or legal alien who possesses a work authorization from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services

    2. Complete the required Florida Certified Designation Course with state exam through AdjusterPro

    3. Submit your application through MyProfile. Make sure you understand and are applying for the correct Florida license type.

    4. Process and submit Fingerprints according to instructions at Florida Department of Financial Services (FLDFS) Fingerprinting Requirements

    5. If required, submit Proof of Citizenship Documentation

    6. Applicants concerned with criminal background questions can get more information on the FLCFO Criminal History page.

    7. Check to see if your license has been issued by logging into MyProfile

    8. FOR INDEPENDENT ADJUSTERS: Florida requires that you self-appoint your license. Once you have your license number, complete the following steps:

    • Go to MyProfile and log in to your account.
    • Select the “Access eAppoint” button under “Apply”. If you have never used eAppoint, you must first register and will need to select “Register to become an appointing entity”.
Once in the eAppoint Workbench, select the required tab (New Appointment, Renew Appointment, or Terminate Appointment).
    • Follow the instructions on the page.
    • Pay the $60 fee.
    • Detailed instructions are available on the FLDFS Appointing Registration page.

Appointments must be renewed every 24 months during the appointee’s birth month.

See additional licensing details, including nonresident information at FLDFS Licensing Information. Or read complete licensing and compliance instructions in our How to Become an Insurance Adjuster in Florida article.

  • Why should I consider the Total Package?

Our individual licensing courses offer the single course you need for your state. For some states, it’s the required pre-licensing course, while for others, it’s an exam preparation course. Either way, these courses will prepare you to ace your state’s adjuster licensing exam.

The Total Adjuster Package will take your training and prep to the next level. These discounted packages include your state’s exam prep or pre-licensing course as well as additional training to help prepare you for the job itself. Having this knowledge before you start will mean you can get hired and start closing claims (and making money!) faster.

    • Your State Pre-Licensing or Exam Prep Course is included in every bundle. Simply choose the package for your resident state and you’re all set.
    • Residential Construction Basics covers how to determine and estimate the type, grade, and quantity of building materials, as well as the basics of the construction process and rooftop assessments and inspections. It is a great precursor to XM8 training.
    • The Xactimate Live Webinar will teach you how to work a claim from start to finish so you can hit the ground running when you get assigned those first claims.
    • Soft Skills: The Essential Art of Adjusting goes beyond technical knowledge to focus on the human element of claims handling, so you can build trust faster, think creatively and strategically, and deliver exceptional service with integrity.
    • Our Adjuster Success Method course is a new, one-of-a-kind career training webinar. It was created by veteran adjusters who wanted to share what they wished they’d known when they started – everything from how to find work, what tools you’ll need, how to adjust and inspect your first claim, and most importantly, how to set yourself up for a lasting and successful career.
  • What is pre-licensing?

While most licensing states simply require you to take and pass the exam to get licensed, other states have an additional “pre-licensing requirement.” These states require you to take a certain amount of education hours before you are allowed to register to take the state exam. AdjusterPro courses contain approved pre-licensing for all the states where it is required: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Indiana, and Texas.

  • Can I take the Florida insurance adjuster exam online?

Yes! When you purchase AdjusterPro’s Florida Certified Adjuster Designation course, or package, it includes an exemption to the state adjuster exam. Once you complete the pre-licensing course and pass the exam included, you can submit your adjuster application to the state. No additional training or testing is required.

  • How much does it cost to get a Florida Adjuster License?

    • Florida Certified Adjuster Designation Course: $299
      • This includes the exam so there is no separate exam fee
    • Initial Licensing and Application Fee: $57.45
      • $57.45 includes $50 application fee, $5 license ID fee, and $2.45 credit card company convenience fee
    • Fingerprint Fee: $49.50
    • No renewal fee (but you must complete CE hours to remain in good standing)
    • Independent Adjuster Appointment Fee: $60
      • + Credit card company convenience fee: 3.3% of the transaction
  • What does reciprocity look like for Florida?

Florida grants reciprocal licenses to adjusters who are licensed in a state that has a reciprocal agreement with Florida. AZ, CA, HI, NM, and NY do not have reciprocal agreements with Florida. You can see all the details regarding reciprocity for Florida adjusters on our Florida Reciprocity Map.

More information is also available at FLDFS Adjuster Reciprocity.
